Griff Lynch shares his time between playing with his band, Yr Ods, and presenting S4C's music programme, Ochr 1

What was your first experience of Welsh music?

As Mam and Dad enjoyed music, Bryn Fon, Steve Eaves, Meic Stevens etc were often playing in the house. But at that point I didn’t really appreciate the music as I was too young. It was probably bands like Anweledig that made me go out to buy their music.

Who was your favourite Welsh language band or musician whilst growing up?

While developing a musical taste, the Welsh language bands I listened to were Texas Radio Band, Kentucky AFC, Big Leaves and the Super Furries.

What is your favourite Welsh language album or song ever?

Difficult one! As albums: Big Leaves – Pwy Sy’n Galw or Tecwyn Ifan – Y Dref Wen

What’s the best Welsh language music performance you have ever seen?

Super Furry Animals at the Brixton Academy or MC Mabon downstairs at Nos Da.

Has Welsh language music influenced your life in any way?

Music has been prominent in my life since I was young and because of my interest in bands and Welsh language pop I’ve ended up in a band and presenting a music program on S4C. So it’s had a big effect on my life.
